Greenworks Tools Announces 187 New Jobs

Outdoor Power Tool Company to Invest $10M in Distribution Facility

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (December 21, 2017) – Sunrise Global Marketing LLC, manufacturers of Greenworks Tools, the leader in battery-powered outdoor power tools for DIY-consumers and landscaping professionals, will locate a distribution facility and bring 187 new jobs to Burke County. The company will locate in the former HHG building on Causby Road with a $10M investment in equipment and the 510,000-sq. ft. facility. The company distributes Greenworks-branded and private label products, as well as products for an extensive network of Original Equipment Manufacturers. The company, which relocated their North American headquarters in 2016 to a 40,000-sq. ft. office in Mooresville, NC, is growing as the market share for battery powered outdoor power equipment grows. “This is a big win for Burke County,” said Jeff Brittain, Chairman of the Burke County Board of Commissioners. “The company looked at locations in South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia so this was a very competitive project. We’re excited to welcome them to our community.” The project was supported by the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, Burke County, and the City of Morganton. “All Greenworks product coming into the U.S. will come through this distribution center,” said Ronnie Thompson, Mayor of Morganton. “Landing this project highlights our excellent location, which provides good access to markets all throughout the Southeast.” Greenworks Tools will receive a Job Development Investment Grant from the state, which requires their average annual wage to be $33,010. Consideration of local incentives will be on the agendas for both the City of Morganton and Burke County in January. “This project moved rapidly as the HHG building was on the market for less than 90 days,” said BDI President and CEO Alan Wood. “We appreciate Greenworks choosing our community and contributing to the continued diversity we see in the economy of Burke County. We’re happy to have the products that this company distributes being brought to Burke County.” Products made by Greenworks Tools are sold online through Amazon and in major retail outlets including Walmart, Lowe’s, Target, Tractor Supply and several others. They will bring products manufactured in China through the facility before shipping them across the U.S. and also perform some assembly and packaging at the facility. They plan to be in operation by the end of January. Those interested in open positions can search on Indeed, visit the Greenworks career page, https://www.indeedjobs.com/greenworks-tools?hl=en_US, and should look for information about a job fair in January.
