BURKE DEVELOPMENT’S ALAN WOOD ELECTED TO NCEDA BOARD

Burke County, N.C. (July 06, 2018) The North Carolina Economic Development Association has elected new leaders for 2018-19, and Alan Wood, president and CEO of Burke Development Inc., will serve a three-year term on the group’s board of directors. NCEDA is the state’s leading membership organization for economic development practitioners and their public and private partners and allies. Its members elected Wood by unanimous vote at their annual meeting in Wrightsville Beach in June. Wood has led Burke Development Inc. since 2015. The public-private partnership promotes economic growth, innovation and sustainability in Burke County. From 2009 until 2015, he was director of the Stokes County Economic Development Commission and prior to that served as senior development manager at the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission. While there, he helped recruit the Google Data Center, among other companies. Wood holds a CEcD designation from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). He is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, where he received a BS in business administration with a concentration in marketing. Wood and his wife, Kelly, live in Morganton. “Alan brings an enviable track record of success in rural economic development that all our members can learn from,” said Steve Yost, NCEDA’s immediate past president. “His experience and energy will add a great deal to the organization’s leadership ranks.” Founded in 1966, NCEDA is composed of professional economic developers at the state, regional and local levels, as well as their public and private partners and allies. With nearly 600 active members, Raleigh-based NCEDA helps promote North Carolina and its communities as a global destination for businesses, jobs and economic investment and support the growth of the state’s existing businesses and entrepreneurial ventures.  The 501(c)(6) organization provides professional education, legislative advocacy, networking opportunities, news and information, and other services.
