ROBUST CAREER EDUCATION

Local employers are familiar with the quality of local education providers, who focus on preparing students with the skills they need for today’s in-demand jobs with career and technical education for in-demand skills. High school students graduate workforce-ready, and many choose to deepen their skills at Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton, where they can earn two-year technology degrees and certifications in areas including electrical engineering, industrial systems, mechanical engineering.

ADDED RESOURCES AND SUPPORT

Burke Development, Inc. and our county’s local officials are responsive to the needs of current employers, providing valuable support at every step. Our ongoing commitment to supporting existing businesses as they expand and enhance operations includes negotiating incentives on their behalf, connecting them with the talent and training, and helping them find the resources they need. Here’s what we’ve done for several local companies:

  • Burke Development, Inc. secured a combination of job development investment grants and other local incentives for SynergyLabs to increase the impact of the pet products company’s $11.2 million investment and create 237 new jobs.
  • Burke Development helped Jackson Corrugated secure a grant and additional local incentives to support the company’s $11.5 million expansion into Morganton, creating 42 new jobs and providing a new supplier of corrugated boxes for other businesses in the region.
  • With the help of state grants and other incentives, Continental – one of the world’s top five automotive suppliers– invested $40 million to expand existing operations in Morganton, creating 160 new jobs.
