Contour Enterprises Receives Building Reuse Grant for Expansion
Foam Company Opens Second Facility in Hildebran
BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (March 22, 2013) – Contour Enterprises has received a $40,000 Building Reuse and Restoration Grant from the NC Rural Center to help with the purchase and renovation of a new facility located in Hildebran. The expansion will help create four new, full-time jobs. “We’re very happy to receive this assistance from the Rural Center,” said David Baird, Contour Enterprises CEO. “Everyone with the Town of Hildebran has been a big help and we’re thankful that these programs are available to businesses like ours who want to grow and invest in being here in North Carolina.” Contour Enterprises is a foam and fiber fabrication company that provides product to many local furniture companies including Shenandoah, Kellex and EJ Victor. It was started over nine years ago and business has grown by 15-20% each year since. The company currently employs 23 people at its buildings in Hildebran and Long View. The new facility is also in Hildebran. As part of the expansion the company will move its headquarters to Hildebran. “I would like to extend a warm welcome to Contour Enterprises as they relocate their corporate headquarters and open an additional facility in our community,” said Hildebran Mayor Karen Robinson. “As a growing business that supplies many local industries and creates local jobs, I consider them a valuable partner in our town.” Burke Development, Inc. (BDI), the county’s economic development organization; the Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG); and the Town of Hildebran partnered with Contour Foam to secure the grant funds. “The Building Reuse program offered by the Rural Center has been a big help to many Burke County companies,” said BDI President Scott Darnell. “We are grateful for their support and are happy to see Burke companies growing.” According to Baird, Counter Enterprises has several large companies requesting additional production. He felt an expansion was necessary in order to meet their demand, as well as to continue the company’s growth. “We’re delighted that Burke County continues to be a good match for Contour Enterprises,” said Burke County Board of Commissioners Chairman Maynard Taylor. “They have grown each year.
