Celebrate Burke Biz at Geiger International

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (December 5, 2012) – On Dec. 5 BDI staff members were joined by elected officials at Geiger International for Celebrate Burke Biz.

The event, held monthly, is an opportunity for BDI to thank local companies for doing business in Burke, and also to honor company employees for their commitment and hard work. December’s event was held at Geiger International, a furniture company that located in Burke County in 2011. BDI President Scott Darnell greeted everyone and introduced Rep. Hugh Blackwell who talked about the furniture industry being the backbone of our region. Geiger President Steve Gane shared some personal stories from the company’s first year of operation in Burke County and expressed his desire to continue to grow, expand and add more employees at the facility. Hildebran Mayor Karen Robinson and Burke County Commissioner Johnnie Carswell also spoke. Both expressed their gratitude to Geiger executives for and employees for their work and their commitment to Burke County. Geiger Executive Gene Bryson took everyone on a tour and answered questions about the company, its focus on employees and its modern facility. Others in attendance included Burke County Manager Bryan Steen; BDI Board Members John Branstrom and Ken Wood; and Hildebran Council Members Virginia Cook and Brenda Banks.
