FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RUTHERFORD COLLEGE, North Carolina (February 4, 2012): At Monday night’s meeting the Rutherford College Town Council issued a proclamation honoring BSN Medical, a medical devices company that recently marked its twentieth anniversary in Rutherford College. The Council recognized the manufacturer’s valuable partnership and contributions to the economic success of the town. “BSN Medical has been a tremendous corporate citizen of the Town of Rutherford College. They’ve provided quality jobs and commerce for this community for two decades,” said Rutherford College Town Manager Kenneth Geathers. “We’re very pleased that they chose Burke County to establish their operation and congratulate them on a successful twenty years.” Formerly known as Jobst, BSN Medical employs 250 people at the Rutherford College facility. It operates 24 hours a day to manufacture compression therapy garments, cast saws, spinal braces and other products. The building, located off of Fashion Ave., officially opened on January 19, 1993. The company used the new facility as an opportunity to consolidate some of their operations, moving departments from a site in Toledo, Ohio to North Carolina. “We have enjoyed considerable success at our manufacturing site located here in Rutherford College including seeing our hosiery production more than double since 2000, thanks primarily to the significant efforts of our local workforce coupled with the support we receive from the community itself,” said Steve Barnhart, General Manager for the Rutherford College facility of BSN Medical.” The proclamation also expressed the Town Council’s gratitude to the company, its executives and employees, for their continued support of Rutherford College as partners in the efforts to build a better community. “BDI is honored to be involved with marking this milestone anniversary,” said BDI President Scott Darnell. “We work hard to recognize the existing industries here in Burke County. We want to make sure they know how much we appreciate them and that we’re here to help them grow and prosper.” Burke Development, Inc. will hold a luncheon at the facility in March to honor the anniversary, as well as thank the company and its employees for their commitment to Burke County.###
