Burke County Welcomes New Company ZRODELTA
Manufacturer of Firearm Products to Locate in Rutherford College
BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (January 22, 2018) – ZRODELTA will open a company headquarters in Rutherford College creating 151 jobs and investing $34M over the next five years. Ammunition and firearms will be manufactured and distributed from the 120,000-sq. ft. facility. “This is wonderful news for Burke County,” said Jeff Brittain, Chair of the Burke County Commissioners. “We have had several big announcements lately and it is nice to know that the secret is out about Burke County.” ZRODELTA is best known for its true return-to-zero DLOC optical mounts, bipod and tripod shooting interfaces, and OEM supply chain services. It will co-locate in the building along with Modern Munitions Group, which manufactures specialized, work-class ammunition, and Critical Resources, which is the contractual and distribution arm of Modern Munitions and ZRODELTA. “The decision to come to Burke County was an easy one,” said partner and former Green Beret Pat Harrigan. “With excellent infrastructure, a highly skilled workforce, and geographical disposition just outside of Charlotte, Burke County and Rutherford College provide the right fit for our companies to see continued success as we grow.” Harrigan credits the State of North Carolina, Burke County, and Rutherford College leadership for making the transition seamless. “From the Governor’s office down to the Town Manager of Rutherford College, with Burke Development Inc. in between, everyone went out of their way to facilitate our relocation, make us feel welcome, and set the conditions for our success. We are excited to begin operations in Rutherford College and Burke County.” The company will locate in the former BSN building adjacent to I-40 at exit 113 and will begin establishing its operations in February. While ZRODELTA will continue to manufacture optical mounts and other accessories at its Lubbock, TX facility, the company will be manufacturing its new Genesis pistol, released today prior to the annual SHOT show in Las Vegas, in Rutherford College. “We definitely want to welcome ZRODELTA to Burke County and Rutherford College. This will be a boost to our economy,” said Gary McClure, Mayor of Rutherford College. “We look forward to having them in our community and working with them to make sure they are successful.” It was announced on December 14 that the company will receive a $500,000 Building Reuse Grant to renovate and up-fit the building for their needs. The Building Reuse program provides grants to local government units to support economic development activity that leads to the creation of new, full-time jobs and gives priority to projects located in the 80 most distressed counties in the state. This project is also supported by local grants from Burke County and the Town of Rutherford College that will provide additional assistance to the renovations of the building and grounds. “This was an exciting and multifaceted project that ties directly into our manufacturing history and strong presence of metalworking,” said Alan Wood, President and CEO of Burke Development, Inc. “We are glad to have them and look forward to supporting their continued growth.” The North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, Burke County, the Town of Rutherford College, Duke Energy and the Western Piedmont Council of Governments assisted with the project.
