Major Pet Products Manufacturer SynergyLabs Locates in Burke County

Company Will Bring 237 New Jobs to Morganton

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (June 18, 2019) – North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that SynergyLabs, a manufacturer of specialty pet products, will locate an operation in Hildebran creating  237 jobs and investing $11.2M over the next five years. SynergyLabs will locate in the former PEDS building at 9451 Neuville Avenue.

“Burke County welcomes SynergyLabs as the newest member of our economic community” said Johnnie Carswell, Chairman of the Burke County Commissioners.  “SynergyLabs is a prime example of a company that will help Burke County to continue its “All About Advancing” theme.

SynergyLabs, with headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is a “concept-to-shelf” manufacturer of more than 150 branded and private brand products for pets. Founded in 1990, SynergyLabs is an innovative developer and manufacturer of products that focus on the health and well-being of pets.

“Pets are family too, and we are committed to providing pet parents with world-class products that deliver the same high levels of quality they’d provide other family members,” said Richard Ticktin, Founder and CEO of SynergyLabs. “North Carolina’s reputation for manufacturing excellence gives us complete confidence we’ll be able to expand our operations while maintaining the high standards our customers have come to expect. We are so pleased to call North Carolina home.”

The company sells and distributes products across pet-specialty, veterinary, grocery, farm and feed, mass-merchandisers, and big-box channels in over 50 countries worldwide.  The company’s pet merchandise lines include grooming aids, stain & odor products, training aids, flea & tick controls, and nutritional supplements.

Although wages will vary depending on position, the average salary for all the new positions will reach $40,568.  The current average wage in Burke County is $35,759.

Partnering with N.C. Commerce and the EDPNC on this project were the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, Western Piedmont Council of Governments, Burke County, the Town of Hildebran, and Burke Development, Inc.

The project in Burke County will be facilitated, in part, by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the state’s Economic Investment Committee. The JDIG Grant is a performance-based, discretionary incentive program that provides cash grants directly to a company, when the company creates jobs and invests in the state.

“We are thankful to have SynergyLabs join our community” said Alan Wood, President and CEO of Burke Development, Inc. “We think they provide a wonderful opportunity for our citizens and look forward to watching them grow and thrive in Burke County.”
