Burke County Welcomes UNIX Packaging

For Immediate Release

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (May 27, 2020) – North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that UNIX Packaging will open a location in Morganton creating at least 151 new jobs by the end of 2022 and approximately 226 new jobs over five years with an investment of approximately $18.5 million. UNIX specializes in manufacturing a variety of types of drinks which include functional beverages, carbonated soft drinks, dietary supplements, purified and enhanced waters, alkaline waters, kombucha and teas.

“We are pleased with the announcement of UNIX Packaging locating in Burke County. This will be a boost to our economy and fits well with our slogan “All about Advancing!” said Johnnie Carswell, Chair of Burke County Commissioners.   “We welcome UNIX to Burke County and look forward to building on a long-term, successful relationship.”

The company will locate in the 318K square foot facility formerly operated by Ice River Springs located at 100 Ceramic Tile Drive, Morganton, NC. The jobs will meet or exceed the average county wage and will include healthcare benefits.
